Our History
The West Essex First Aid Squad was founded in 1937 by Medford Barton. In 1964 WEFAS added a rescue truck to the fleet which would be equiped with the Jaws of Life. In 2007 we answered over 2,600 calls and currently have over 85 active members. We are a completely volunteer organization and never have charged for any of the services we provide operating 4 ambulances and 1 rescue truck. Residents of the West Essex area should feel comfortable knowing that these dedicated volunteers are ready to respond at any time, day or night.
Squad News
WEFAS has ordered the new rescue truck from Rescue 1. The truck chassis has arrived at the factory and soon the body of the truck will be built. Although the new truck has been ordered and is currently be constructed donations are still needed. More Info
On Monday June 8th WEFAS took part in Every 15 Minutes at West Essex High School. Every 15 Minutes is a program designed to help warn teens of the risks of drunk driving. Click here to see the video from the day.
