Our History

The West Essex First Aid Squad was founded in 1937 by Medford Barton. In 1964 WEFAS added a rescue truck to the fleet which would be equiped with the Jaws of Life. In 2007 we answered over 2,600 calls and currently have over 85 active members. We are a completely volunteer organization and never have charged for any of the services we provide operating 4 ambulances and 1 rescue truck. Residents of the West Essex area should feel comfortable knowing that these dedicated volunteers are ready to respond at any time, day or night.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO JULY 9TH

WEFAS is currently in the process of ordering a new rescue truck (773). This is a two part mission; the first is designing a truck that will greatly improve our abilities of performing rescue and the second is to raise the funds to purchase the truck. WEFAS purchases all of the squad's vehicles through the donations of residents and businesses in the area and only receives a small amount each year from the towns we serve. More Info
